Introducing The Solar System Way 50km pilot race.
The York Solar System model is a scale model of our Solar System, spread out along 10km of the old East Coast mainline railway. Along it you can find scale models of all the planets in our solar system as well as models of the Cassini and Voyager spacecraft. The scale of our model is 575,872,239 to 1, so every 100 metres along the track corresponds to more than 57 million kilometres in space.
The race is a 'shuttle' run to each planet and then back to the Sun until all planets have been reached.

Runners will be required to touch the chalk line at the first four planets and then touch Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
We will have a couple of roaming marshal at the front and back of the pack, and a marshal at the lead planet.
